You hear the success stories:
- In less than 6 months I filled my coaching practice and created a wait list
- I’ve had consistent five-figure months since my second month in business
- I made more in the first 5 months in my business than I did in a YEAR at my old job.
And let’s be honest… sometimes they sound like bullshit.
But for me… all of this is true.
I don’t say this to brag… but because I want you to know that it’s POSSIBLE for you.
I created all of these results in my coaching business not because I knew a “secret” that no one else knew, and not because I followed a step by step program, but because I figured out what worked for me and implemented.
If you’ve been following me for a while, it should come as no surprise to you that there were 3 key areas that I focused my energy on that I contribute to my success… Mindset, Strategy, and Execution.
Here’s how I implemented each of these early on in my business to create those results:
MINDSET
Before I started my business I knew mindset work was important. I worked as a therapist, read all the books, and saw how my own confidence and ability to be positive impacted the results I created in my life. Yet, I didn’t PRACTICE it regularly. I had the knowledge but I wasn’t putting it to great use.
Can you identify with that? Knowing how important mindset work and self-care is but always making it last on your list?
I really saw major shifts in my business when I got RELENTLESS about doing the work, when it became a top tier priority on my to do list… not something relegated to the bottom of the “I hope I get to it” list.
Some of my favorite daily practices (though I’m not super rigid about them) include:
- journaling
- meditating
- belief/affirmations statements (these happen daily for sure!)
- visualizing
- reading/listening to something positive on this topic
Having a daily practice has really helped it to become a habit, not something I have to think about or “make time for”. It’s just a non-negotiable like washing my face or eating.
So today I’d love for you to ask yourself…. If I’m being totally honest am I REALLY making mindset work a daily priority? Even if it’s only 5-10 minutes am a I truly giving it the focus it deserves? How can I make this a daily habit?
STRATEGY
One of the most important things I did to see my business take off quickly was to be strategic with what I was creating, and give my strategy time to play out.
Meaning, I didn’t just throw a lot of stuff at the wall to see what stuck (although let’s be serious…sometimes there’s a little element of that in entrepreneurship). I created a strategic plan and I gave that plan time to work.
I see too many entrepreneurs trying a TON of different things but never giving any of them a chance to work out.
I once had a mentor tell me that the results that you create in your business don’t show up for at least 60 days, and then to really see them come together you have to wait at least 90. I’m not sure this is true in EVERY case, but I do know that we can’t decide something “isn’t working” before giving it a chance to work.
Hint: Strategy doesn’t have to be super complicated! Keep it simple, but effective! Pick one… stick with it. That’s when you see things start to transform!
EXECUTION
I’m going to give you the #letsgetreal truth… a big piece of that was that I showed up every. single. day.
It doesn’t mean I showed up ALL day every day, but I definitely showed up.
I think this can be one of the toughest things for new entrepreneurs. Really creating that consistency BEFORE we see results. I hear a lot of things like “I’ll be more consistent once I have a client, gain more traction, have a bigger FB group, have more followers, etc.” Yet, the consistency is what actually gives us all of the things we’re waiting for… Showing up for your community consistently and giving them valuable information is ultimately what allows it to grow.
I see my relationship with my community and my business just like any other relationship where you want and expect consistency. If someone you’re dating showed up to see you for 5 days in a row, then dropped off the face of the earth for 10 then came back for two, etc. you’d be DONE with them. Your potential clients, community, and followers feel the same way.
I see this as building a relationship with my community, and I treat it like I would any meaningful relationship by making sure I set a good foundation, and incorporating it into my schedule.
I now make this consistency a habit (because habits ensure you get things done more easily and with less fatigue). It’s a non-negotiable part of my day… I don’t even think about it… I just do it.
